Recap: Venezia

Hey guys!

I was overwhelmingly excited to dedicate today's post to recap our recent trip to Venezia, Italy. Honestly, I have no idea where to begin... It was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. The architecture was incredible, the people were darling, and don't even get me started about the food. I instantly fell in love with this Italian city. So much personality for such a small place. We stayed in the most charming and pleasant hotel (Hotel Gardena), with everything in walking distance. We decided to explore it all, including: San Marco Basilica, Doge's Palace, the Grand Canal, and every gelato shop in between. All in all, this trip will be hard (or nearly impossible) to top, but we'll see!

The history of this city is remarkable. During our stay in Venice, we took the most interesting and informational tour! Venice is obviously a popular tourist destination, but it is astonishing for many other reasons. For example, the canals around the city are all natural. They were bodies of water connecting the many different "islands" when Venice was first inhabited. The bridges were later built to make it easier to travel from one island to the next. It is crazy to imagine that Venice is a conglomerate of islands! Not to mention the elaborate (and breathtaking) architecture that is used to keep all the buildings standing with continuous degradation from the water. We also learned a great deal about Doge's Palace, the high tides, San Marco Basilica, the gondolas, the sewage system, the only hospital, the small local population, the large tourist turnout, and even how often houses require repainting. It was a real treat to be shown around such a complex city by a local tour guide.

It's hard to imagine the amount of time and effort this took... So impressive!

The streets were all so unique! Each one had gorgeous street art, colors, and cute little shops.

The One with the Maxi Skrit

Happy Monday!

Today's post features a look from this past weekend. At the end of a hectic week, I look forward to getting dressed up and going out with my wonderful friends. What is better than a crop top, maxi skirt, and some fun accessories for a night out on the town? I love this tribal print maxi skirt because it can be worn casually or fancily. (Fancily doesn't sound like a real word...Haha) For this look, I added a golden clutch, nude heels, and an ear cuff for an edgy but girly finish. 

I love trying new places in this city. This weekend, we decided to try out a chic bar and grill called Savoy. The food and drinks were phenomenal, the company was delightful, and the view was breathtaking. The perfect Friday night in my book. Not to mention this beautiful sunset and ethereal landscape we had while shooting the look!

Okay, I'm completely in love with this ear cuff. Never taking it off.

Date Night Details

 I hope you had a great week!

A few days ago, Aaron and I went on a little "stay-cation" at a mineral springs and spa in the mountains to celebrate our fifth anniversary. I wore this gorgeous dress for our anniversary dinner date at The Artesian Restaurant. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was so romantic!

Getting dressed up and going to dinner and drinks is one of my favorite date ideas! I think dresses are a perfect go-to for these nights out. This one is so well made and I'm in love with the color! I paired the dress with nude patent pumps (my most comfortable heels) and a little brown bag that has just enough space for the essentials. 

I was thinking about laying in this hammock with a dress and heels on but decided against it. ;)

Rustic Floral

One of my favorite things to do during the summer is go on spontaneous road trips. I love exploring new places, trying new restaurants, and meeting new people. Kriti and I recently made our way down to rural Taos, New Mexico. Taos is one of my all time favorite locations because it is full of history, darling people, and beautiful spots. 

This look is one of my favorite "on the road" outfits because it is (SUPER) comfy and perfect for the bohemian ambiance of this town. I paired this floral kimono with my dark denim high-waisted shorts for a casual but girly look. I also threw on a hat because... well, I'm a hat lady. I almost always buy one when I'm out shopping, and then proceed to justify the purchase of yet another hat. My sister can vouch for me on that one... ;) I completed the outfit with some touches of blush pink and an accent scarf.

Also, I'm completely in love with my new necklace. Kendra Scott has my heart when it comes to jewelry!

This lovely scarf is from my recent trip to Rome, Italy. It reminds me of the gorgeous architecture, delicious food, and mind blowing history of the city. I can't wait to go back!

Uptown Funk

I REALLY love dresses. They are so comfortable (I could wear a dress every day) and feminine! I added a denim vest and studded gladiator sandals to toughen up this particular dress. These sandals are so cute that I don't even care that they take forever to buckle up. I accessorized with a bunch of rings, my favorite purse, and my go-to sunglasses.

The location of this shoot (Uptown) is one of my favorites in the city. It has amazing restaurants, shopping, GELATO, and a Super-Target! On this day, we were in Uptown because Ari has horrible luck with her phones. She has previously dropped one in the toilet but this time, her iPhone 6 fell just right so that the display shattered.. it was a tragedy. Although, any excuse to go to Uptown is okay in my book!
